Formed in 2002, the choir's original purpose was to participate and compete in the annual inter-school choir competition and to enjoy music through singing. The choir was trained by Madam Luk Chiong Mee and assisted by Madam Elizabeth Tiong (now retired), Madam Anita Wee, and Madam Chew Li Teen (designer of the choir costumes)
In that year, the pioneer choir batch managed to emerge as winners of the division level competition. The choir later emerged as first runner-up in the state level competition.
In 2003, the SMK Batu Lintang choir managed to emerge as divisional champions again but went one step further in the state level competition, edging out fierce rivals SMK Methodist, Sibu. To top it off, the choir team went on to become the champion of the national finals held in Dewan Suarah, Shah Alam.
In 2004, the choir team once again proved their prowess in Sarawak by emerging as winners for the second year in a row. The choir team also participated in the 2nd annual Choral Festival, held in Kuala Lumpur. In the national level competition, we emerged as 2nd Runner-Up.
In 2005, the choir made a little piece of history by being the first school choir to be invited by the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra to perform at the famed Dewan Filharmonik Orkestra, Petronas Twin Towers, Kuala Lumpur. The choir once again participated in the Choral Festival, this time with a completely new batch of singers who made a lasting impression on the members of the audience. However, the choir decided not to participate in the inter-school choir competition. The choir was backed by the then principal, Cik Jaidah Alek and also Cikgu Catherine Ritikos.
In 2006, the choir went for the pinnacle of any choir competition, the World Choir Games held in Xiamen, China. Cikgu Susie Sim and Madam Sng Bee Ping joined the set-up. In that competition, the choir gave their all and managed a Bronze Diploma.
Now, in 2007, the choir is returning to its original roots and recently won the Interschool Choir Competition held in SMK Paku, Bau on 20th June 2007. With a little bit of luck, we will once again re-establish ourselves as one of the best school choirs in Malaysia.
